I’m terrible at keeping secrets.
It’s not that I’m not trustworthy…
It’s just that I get so excited about life and everything in it that I just NEED TO SHARE ALL THE THINGS.
99.9% of the time, I’m as transparent as a freshly-squeegeed window.
But I also try very hard to listen when other people talk (harder than it looks, ammiright?)
People have incredible and fascinating stories to share, but sometimes you gotta get them talking in order to pull it out of them.
And that takes time.
So I try not to talk about myself too much (a work in progress).
Because by listening, you give other people time to get into a groove and dish the details.
Having said that, I’ve got some pretty snazzy stories of my own.
I’ve been a professional actress, both on stage and on screen.
I’ve traveled alone through more than 20 countries.
I’ve sung a solo onstage at the Grand Ole’ Opry House and then did a duet with David Pack from Ambrosia
(If you’re too young to know who that is, just imagine if Bon Jovi and Phil Collins had a baby. Equal parts musical talent and mullet)
I used to host a comedy cooking show.
I’ve driven motorcycles through Asian jungles, zooming in between the legs of elephants while they walk the tree-lined trails.
I even used to train tigers and host a live exotic animal show in Miami.
So it should come as no surprise that, like most entrepreneurs, the business I have today is NOT my first venture.
Graphic design, SEO, Content Marketing, Web Design – you name it, I hawked it.
I spent YEARS trying to be everything to everyone, which unsurprisingly, makes things WAY harder than they need to be.
Some of those ventures were more successful than others.
In fact, before I shut down my SEO copy agency and re-launched as a full-time freelancer, I was running a multi-million dollar SaaS company in China as their Director of Marketing.
But you know what?
Being a full-time freelance copywriter is one of the only things I’ve done that feels completely “right.”
It’s the only time in my life I haven’t wondered whether or not I’m focusing on the right thing….
…. wondering if I’ve gotten SO good at faking it, that I’ve even fooled myself.
Because copywriting is fun. It’s fascinating. And it is POWERFUL.
You literally have the power to change people’s minds, and get them to take action.
People have KILLED for that kind of power.
And once you get a taste for it, you’re hooked. Addicted. You can never go back.
I know now that regardless of whether I’m writing for clients or my own products and business – I’ll ALWAYS be a copywriter for the rest of my life.
And once you get the hang of the basics, you just go deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole.
So if you’ve ever wondered if you ‘have what it takes’ to make the leap and commit to being a copywriter, you owe it to yourself to get in on this year’s last round of Derek Johanson’s Copy Hour course.
It’s where I first got bit by the bug. And I’ve never looked back. And I wouldn’t be where I am today without the structure, principles, and guidance Derek provides in this 90 day copywriting fundamentals course.
This is the last time I’m going to message you about Copy Hour this year.
Because enrollment closes this week, and this is your last chance to get in this year, and before Derek raises the prices on the next round like he always does.
So if you’re ready to take the leap and start a wild adventure of your own….
